Adam Hawk is an Associate Professor in the Art & Design Department at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, holding roles in both Digital Fabrication & Design and Design & Visual Communication. He serves as Area Head of Digital Fabrication & Design. His academic background includes an MFA in metalsmithing/blacksmithing from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and a BFA in sculpture/computer fine arts from Memphis College of Art.

Research Interests: Hawk’s creative research explores the intersection of digital design/manufacturing technologies with traditional craft practices. His recent work focuses on CNC milling as a complementary tool for enhancing blacksmithing and metalsmithing aesthetics and workflows, addressing the relationship between contemporary technology and historically hand-based craft methods.
Awards & Exhibitions: His work has been exhibited globally, including at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum, Fuller Craft Museum, and institutions in Shanghai and Paris. Notably, he participated in the 40 Under 40 exhibition at the National Metal Museum, highlighting emerging metal artists.
Labs/Teams: His role in Digital Fabrication & Design suggests involvement in related academic and technical teams focused on integrating digital tools into traditional art practices.
