Sherry Simms is an Associate Professor of Art and Coordinator of the Metalsmithing and Jewelry program at the University of Akron's Mary Schiller Myers School of Art since 2001. She previously taught at SUNY New Paltz and the University of Oregon. Her work explores jewelry and sculptural objects that challenge cultural perceptions of ornamentation, exhibited widely and featured in American Craft and Metalsmith magazines.

Research interests focus on redefining jewelry’s cultural role through interdisciplinary sculptural practices. Her work bridges functional art and conceptual critique, often addressing themes of identity and materiality.
