معرفی
Stephen Minta is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of English and Related Literature at the University of York, teaching since 1973. His expertise lies in comparative literature with emphasis on French, Spanish, Italian, and Greek literary traditions and their influence on English literature.
Minta's research spans medieval courtly traditions to 20th-century poetry, examining cross-cultural literary influences, political dimensions of national narratives, and contemporary cultural dynamics. Current work centers on an intellectual biography of Lord Byron, analyzing the poet's engagement with Eastern Europe and Mediterranean contexts through historical and political lenses.
Recent publications demonstrate consistent focus on Byron's geopolitical relationships and transnational literary encounters, particularly connections between Italian Futurism and Greek poetry. His scholarship reveals patterns of cultural exchange across European traditions with recurring attention to Orientalism, literary identity, and cross-linguistic influence.
Minta has supervised graduate research on diverse topics including the South African novel, US immigrant literature, Homeric figure of Helen, late-19th-century anarchism in literature, and T.S. Eliot/George Seferis poetry. He secured a British Academy Small Research Grant (2011) for comparative literary research and actively welcomes PhD candidates exploring European cultural relationships.
