Professor Hugh Haughton is a faculty member in the Department of English and Related Literature at the University of York. He specializes in twentieth-century Irish literature, modern poetry, psychoanalysis and literature, and nonsense literature. His research spans Irish, British, and American poetry, modern verse translation, and the intersections of literature with psychoanalysis, war, and cultural exchange.
- Education: Studied at Cambridge and Oxford Universities.
His research interests include Derek Mahon, John Clare, T.S. Eliot, Samuel Beckett, and the poetry of reverie. He is co-editing The Letters of T.S. Eliot and completing Irish Crossings, a collection of critical essays on Irish literature and cultural translation. He actively supervises PhDs in modern poetry, Irish literature, and contemporary US literature.
Professor Haughton welcomes applications in modern poetry poetics, autobiography studies, and war poetry.
