Stephanie Mahfood

Stephanie Mahfood serves as Assistant Professor of Special Education and Interim Dean of the School of Education at Webster University, where she is affiliated with the Multidisciplinary Studies Department and coordinates the graduate special education certification program.

Her research centers on special education and developmental disabilities, with specific focus on executive function skill development, dental phobia interventions for individuals with severe disabilities, positive behavior supports, and teacher preparation. Current projects examine school-wide peer support systems' impact on executive function and methodologies for training student teachers to collaborate with paraeducators.

Dr. Mahfood co-authored a recently accepted study on dental phobia interventions and secured a Boeing Company grant to implement innovative early field experiences in teacher certification courses. Her practical experience includes K-12 special education instruction across diverse settings, notably as a two-year Peace Corps volunteer in Tunisia.
