Dr. Smita Tripathi is a Lecturer in Human Resource Studies/Leadership at Plymouth Business School, part of the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Business at the University of Plymouth. She specializes in leadership, human resource management, and organizational change, with a focus on sustainability, healthcare leadership, and public sector governance. Her research collaborations include work with the Faculty of Health on sustainable healthcare practices and leadership in the NHS South West. She is also Programme Leader for the MBA Top-Up Programme, offering flexible international learning options.
Dr. Tripathi teaches leadership, HRM, and public sector management across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including modules delivered in Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Geneva. Her teaching emphasizes ethical leadership, diversity, inclusion, and blended learning strategies. She has designed open education resources (OERs) for professional development under the Learning from WOeRK project, supporting workplace learning in leadership and management.
Her professional background includes roles as a Civil Servant in India, Research Fellow at the University of Plymouth (2004-2005), and Project Manager for ESF and HEFCE-funded initiatives. She actively engages with local charities focusing on racial equality, multilingual families, and community development in the South West. Dr. Tripathi invites PhD proposals on crisis management, flexible work, wellbeing, and collaborative leadership in healthcare.
Her research and teaching synergies drive her commitment to transformative education and impactful research, particularly aligning with UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She has supervised student dissertations and contributed to curriculum design for executive leadership programs in partnership with NHS and Plymouth City Council.
