Recent works explore everyday heroism across national boundaries and the transnational dimensions of heroic discourse. His scholarship demonstrates how heroism functions as both a mechanism of social control and a tool for marginalized communities seeking recognition and rights.
Wendt has been actively engaged with contemporary issues through numerous media appearances, particularly during pivotal moments in recent American history including the George Floyd protests, the January 6th Capitol insurrection, and multiple presidential elections. His commentary spans major German media outlets including Deutschlandfunk, n-tv, ZDF, and SWR.
