Björn Wendt is a Lecturer in Sociology at the University of Münster, affiliated with the Department of Sociology within the Faculty of Education and Social Studies. His academic work focuses on Sociology of Sustainability, Environmental Sociology, and Utopia Research. He holds a doctoral degree (Dr. phil.) in Sociology from the University of Münster, awarded by the Department of Education and Social Studies.
His research explores sustainability as a utopian concept, power structures in environmental governance, and socio-ecological transformations. He has led multiple projects including 'SuN – Sustainable Worlds Journal Development' (2021–2028) and contributed to the DFG-funded 'Sociology of the Un/Available' network (2021–2024). Wendt is actively involved in academic organizations such as the German Sociological Association (DGS) sections for Environmental Sociology and Political Sociology.
He regularly teaches seminars on topics like sustainability, climate change, and social movements. Notable publications include works on utopian theory, climate discourse analysis, and socio-ecological transformations.
