Felicitas Riedel

Felicitas Riedel is a Doctoral Fellow and Research Associate at the Max-Weber-Institute of Sociology, Heidelberg University, since 2022 and 2021, respectively. She specializes in political sociology, environmental sociology, and qualitative research methods, with a focus on climate justice and critiques of capitalism.

Her research examines socio-ecological transformation, policy design in sustainability initiatives, and the evidence base of climate policies through qualitative methods like discourse analysis and ethnography. She contributes to interdisciplinary projects such as NEVIVO (Field of Focus 4), integrating stakeholder perspectives in policy analysis.

In 2022, she published on the integration of social aspects in Germany's Blue Angel sustainability certification, analyzing manufacturer and consumer viewpoints. Her 2019 work assessed the Europeanization of national party campaigns in EU elections.

Riedel is a member of the Heidelberg Center for the Environment (HCE-College) and the German Sociological Association (DGS). She teaches seminars on sustainability construction in households, capitalist society criticism, and social justice at Heidelberg University.
