Svea Kietzmann is a doctoral candidate and research assistant at the Institute of Sociology at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg, working under Prof. Dr. Nina Degele. She is affiliated with TU Dortmund's Doctoral College and holds a scholarship from the Hans Böckler Foundation. Her academic background includes a Bachelor’s in Sociology with a psychology minor from Friedrich Schiller University Jena, an Erasmus semester at Paris Lodron University Salzburg, and a Master’s in Sociology from Ludwig Maximilian University Munich.
Her research focuses on intergenerational justice in climate change contexts, examining generational conflicts in democratic processes and sustainability transitions. Methodologically, she specializes in qualitative research and discourse analysis, particularly applying Keller's sociology of knowledge framework. Key areas of study include the influence of climate protest movements like 'Fridays for Future' and 'Last Generation' on media and parliamentary discourse regarding youth participation and societal transformation.
Kietzmann is a member of the German and Austrian Sociological Associations, as well as the DGS section for Environmental and Sustainability Sociology. Her work bridges social theory, risk analysis, and contemporary societal challenges, contributing to debates on climate policy and intergenerational equity.
