Christopher Wendt

Christopher Wendt is a researcher at the European University Institute's Department of History, part of the 2019 cohort. His work focuses on nationalism, religion and politics, and the historical dynamics of Central and Eastern Europe during the 19th and 20th centuries.

His research explores the intersection of faith and politics in post-Habsburg Tyrol, supervised by Pieter M. Judson and Glenda Sluga. Recent publications analyze Catholic clergy's role in postwar societal reconstruction and the formulation of Germanness in the Banat region.

Wendt’s work spans political transitions in post-Habsburg Europe and ethnic identity construction, with articles published in 2024 and 2021. His research engages with themes of nationalism, cultural continuity, and religious influence in historical contexts.
