Dr. Sheridan Henson serves as Executive Director of Academic Support, Director of the Honors Program, and Associate Professor of Leadership Studies at Cumberland University. He leads the Office of Academic Affairs within the Millard and JJ Oakley School of Humanities, Education and the Arts. His roles include overseeing student success initiatives, career services, and academic programs such as the Foundations of Scholarship and Learning (FSL) course. He teaches Leadership, First Year Seminar, and graduate courses in Organizational Behavior and Conflict Resolution.
Education: B.A. from University of Tennessee, Knoxville; M.S.P. from Cumberland University; Ed.D. from Trevecca Nazarene University.
Research interests focus on leadership development, academic program design, and student integration. He has received national recognition for his work with Omicron Delta Kappa, including the Presidential Award of Excellence and the 2021 Outstanding Circle Officer Award.
Leadership roles include membership in Cumberland University’s Senior Academic Leadership Team, Deans Council, and Library Committee. During the 2020 SACS-COC accreditation process, he contributed to institutional standards writing. He advises student organizations like Alpha Chi and Order of Omega, and co-sponsors Sigma Theta Delta.
Additional roles: Scoutmaster of Troop 360, Unit Commissioner for Cumberland River District, and Board Chair for Cumberland University Wesley Fellowship.
