Thomas Compton serves as an Adjunct Professor of Public Service Management at Cumberland University's Millard and JJ Oakley School of Humanities, Education and the Arts. He concurrently holds a senior public service role as Assistant Commissioner at the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance under Governor Bill Lee.
Education: B.A. from Lipscomb University and M.S.P. from Cumberland University.
His professional expertise spans over two decades in public affairs, economic development, and sports management. Key areas of focus include public administration, strategic policy implementation, and leveraging economic opportunities in urban and regional contexts. His involvement in high-profile projects includes the successful Nashville MLS bid (Nashville SC) and the development of First Tennessee Park. Compton has also held executive roles in private sectors, including leadership at Associated Builders and Contractors and the Metro Sports Authority.
He currently serves on boards such as Studio Bank, Commercial Capital BIDCO, and is incoming Board Chairman of the Nashville Sports Council. His work bridges public and private sectors, emphasizing collaboration in community development and infrastructure projects.
