Sasha Engelmann is a Reader in GeoHumanities at the Department of Geography, Royal Holloway, University of London. Her work bridges geography, art, and environmental science, with a focus on feminist and creative approaches to environmental knowledge. She leads the open-weather project, exploring participatory weather monitoring through amateur radio technologies. Her research addresses intersectional feminism, climate justice, and design justice in the context of the climate crisis.
She holds a PhD in Geography and the Environment from the University of Oxford (2017), an MPhil in Nature, Society and Environmental Policy from Oxford (2013), and dual degrees from Stanford University (BS in Earth Sciences and BA in English/French Literatures, 2011).
Teaching: Sasha teaches undergraduate and master’s courses on atmospheric geographies, material cultures, and global futures. Notable courses include GG3161 Atmospheres: Nature, Culture, Politics and GG2061 Cultural Geographies, emphasizing practice-based learning. She also organizes an annual NYC field trip focusing on urban activism and analog photography.
