Harriet Hawkins is Professor of Human Geography and Co-Director of the Centre for GeoHumanities at Royal Holloway University of London. She holds a BA in Geography (2001), MA in Landscape and Culture (2002), and PhD in Geography (2006) from the University of Nottingham.
Her research advances the interdisciplinary field of GeoHumanities, bridging geographical scholarship with arts and humanities practice. She investigates the geographies of artworks and art worlds, while theoretically developing geographical perspectives on aesthetics, creativity, and imagination. Current research focuses on the underground as a site for new environmental imaginations.
Hawkins collaborates internationally with arts organizations including Tate, Arts Catalyst, Iniva, and Furtherfield, producing artist's books, participatory projects, and exhibitions alongside scholarly publications. Her research spans cultural geography, environmental studies, and interdisciplinary art-science collaborations.

She serves as Deputy Director of Technē (AHRC-funded doctoral training partnership), Associate Editor of GeoHumanities, and Managing Editor of Cultural Geographies. Hawkins chairs the Royal Geographical Society's Social and Cultural Geography Research Group and leads the UKRI Future Leader Fellowships Peer Review Panel.
