Beth Williamson is a PhD researcher at the Department of Geography, Royal Holloway University of London, funded by the Techne AHRC Doctoral Training Partnership. Her research focuses on the Royal Geographical Society's historical attempts to standardize place names (orthography) between 1830-1919, examining intersections of imperial authority, linguistics, and geographical knowledge production.
