Dr. Sarah Annesley is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Nursing, Midwifery, and Health at Northumbria University. She holds dual academic appointments at Northumbria and the University of Stirling, with 14 years of clinical nursing experience in NHS Trusts across Scotland. Her roles include module leader for NS0711 (Developing Nursing Practice through Research), personal tutor, and NMC/Mott Macdonald Quality Assurance Registrant Visitor (2018–2024). She currently serves as an external examiner for pre-registration nursing programs at Leeds Beckett University and London Metropolitan University.
Education includes a Nursing PhD (2015), MSc (1994), and BSc (1988). Her clinical background spans vascular nursing at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and international experience in South Africa. Sarah is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (2017) and an NMC-registered nurse and practice educator.
Research focuses on healthcare policy implementation, chronic illness management, and grading practices in nurse education.
