Dr Neil Wilson is Deputy Head of the Department of Health Professions at Manchester Metropolitan University. A Senior Lecturer in Nursing since 2007, he has led pre-registration nursing admissions for 15 years and held roles including Deputy Programme Leader for BSc Adult Nursing. His expertise spans clinical nutrition, stroke rehabilitation, and general practice nursing.
Education includes a PhD on COPD nutritional needs, MSc Nursing, and BSc Specialist Practitioner Nursing. Professional credentials include NMC registration and Royal College of Nursing membership.
Research focuses on clinical nutrition support, malnutrition, stroke ethics, and COPD-related nutrition. Notable projects include a 2020/21 Health Education England initiative using mixed realities to attract young people to health careers (as Principal Investigator).
Awarded Queen’s Nurse (2023) for nursing education excellence, he also served as Consultant Editor for the British Journal of Community Nursing’s Nutrition Supplement (2017–2020). Teaches postgraduate units on multiprofessional stroke rehabilitation and acute stroke management.
