Dr Alison Hackett is a Senior Lecturer and Programme Director for MSc Early Years Practice (Health Visiting) and MSc Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Health Visiting) at the University of Stirling’s Health Sciences department. She holds dual roles as Deputy Fitness to Practice Lead for Nursing/Paramedic programs and Learning & Teaching Officer. Her research focuses on child protection, children’s mental health, and interventions in public health nursing, with a recent PhD on school nurses’ mental health roles in Scotland.
Professional qualifications include Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy, NMC registration as a Nurse Teacher, and Registered Community Prescriber. She leads Unicef Baby Friendly University initiatives, achieving accreditation in 2021 and 2024. External roles include External Examiner at Leeds Beckett University and NMC Registrant Visitor.
Awards include the 2021 Student Nursing Times Award for Education Provider of the Year and multiple HV Educator recognitions. Her work spans curriculum design, safeguarding practices, and advancing evidence-based health visiting practices across Scotland.
