Roman Petrov

Prof. Dr. Roman Petrov is a Professor of Law at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy in Ukraine. In 2022/23, he served as a Visiting Professor at Saarland University. A specialist in EU and international law, he has directed the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence for EU Studies in Kyiv since 2011.

His research focuses on:

• EU Law and external relations
• Legal harmonization between EU and third countries
• Regional integration in the post-Soviet space
• Unrecognized entities in EU and international frameworks

Prof. Petrov earned his doctorate in Law from Queen Mary University of London under Prof. Marise Cremona. He has held prestigious research fellowships at institutions including the European University Institute (Max Weber Fellow), University of Heidelberg (Alexander von Humboldt), University of Oxford, University of Ghent, and Uppsala University.
