Prof. Roman Petrov is a Professor and Head of the International and European Law Department at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. He leads the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence since 2011 and holds the Jean Monnet Chair in EU Law. His roles include visiting professorships at the University of Latvia, Augsburg University, and Ghent University, as well as Foreign Chair at Ghent University. He is founder and first President of the Ukrainian European Studies Association.
- Education: Post-doctoral research as a Max Weber Fellow at the European University Institute (Florence, Italy)
- Fellowships: Alexander von Humboldt (Heidelberg), University of Oxford, Ghent University
Research focuses on EU Law, EU External Relations, legal harmonization in the EU, and regional integration in the post-Soviet space. He advises Ukrainian state institutions (Parliament, Constitutional Court, Ministry of Justice) and serves as an expert for the European Parliament and Energy Community Secretariat.
