Prof. Dr. Alexandre Kostka is an Honorary Professor at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), affiliated with the JEHLE PROFESSORSHIP. His research focuses on artistic exchange processes between France and Germany, particularly in architectural history and the intersection of architecture with ideology. He has held significant fellowships, including the Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship and a Mellon Fellowship at CASVA.
Education: Studied History, German Literature, and Philosophy at the École Normale Supérieure (Paris), Sorbonne, Institut d'Études Politiques, and Free University of Berlin. Earned a doctorate in 1993 with a dissertation on Harry Graf Kessler.
Research Projects: Leads initiatives on German architectural influence in Strasbourg and Poznań, and the role of the Strasbourg cathedral workshop in shaping national identity ('Engineering Nationality'). Collaborates with Prof. Medina Warmburg (KIT) and Prof. Christiane Weber (University of Innsbruck).

Grants & Collaborations: Engages in interdisciplinary projects combining art history, urban studies, and political history. Current collaborations include transnational architectural historiography and the cultural politics of 19th-century urban spaces.
