معرفی
Roland Bliem is an Associate Professor at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and leads the Materials & Surface Science for Extreme Ultraviolet Lithography (EUVL) group at ARCNL. He holds a PhD from Vienna University of Technology (2016), focusing on magnetite surface stabilization and catalytic adatoms. His postdoctoral research at MIT (funded by an Erwin Schrödinger Fellowship) explored solid oxide fuel cell materials via in situ spectroscopy.
His current research addresses surface chemistry under EUV lithography conditions, including reactive environments, high temperatures, and plasma exposure. In 2022, he developed an in situ photoelectron spectroscopy technique for plasma environments, funded by NWO and UvA. He received tenure at UvA in 2023 and an ERC Starting Grant for plasma-assisted chemical reactions at surfaces.
Education:
- PhD (sub auspiciis praesidentis), Vienna University of Technology, 2016
Research Interests: Surface chemistry of EUV coatings, single-atom catalysis, plasma interactions, nanomaterials, and advanced spectroscopic techniques. His work bridges fundamental surface science with industrial applications in lithography and energy materials.
Awards:
- ERC Starting Grant (2023)
- Tenure at University of Amsterdam (2023)
- Erwin Schrödinger Fellowship (postdoc funding)
Advising & Grants: Leads the EUVL group at ARCNL, coordinating interdisciplinary projects. His ERC grant supports studies on plasma-catalyzed surface reactions. Recent funding includes NWO grants for in situ spectroscopy development.
Labs/Teams: Directs the Materials & Surface Science for EUVL group at ARCNL, focusing on EUV lithography materials and plasma-aided synthesis.
