Robert Knight is a Professor of Art and Chair at Hamilton College, where he also serves as Director of Digital Arts. His artistic practice spans photography, video, and installation, focusing on how architectural space shapes individual identity and addresses contemporary social issues.
- Education: M.F.A. from Massachusetts College of Art, B.A. from Yale University.
His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally at venues such as Gallery Kayafas (Boston), the Wellin Museum of Art (Hamilton College), and festivals in France. Notable projects include Thirteen Ways, Class of 2015 (a longitudinal portrait series), and My Boat is so Small, which explores parental expectations and societal pressures on children.
- Scientific Awards and Grants: Levitt Center Faculty Innovation Grant (multiple years), Creative Arts & Technology Grant (Hamilton College), Light Work Grant in Photography, and others.
Knight has taught courses such as Introduction to Photography, Advanced Photography, and Special Topics in Photography: Curating the Archive. He has mentored 12 students, including those featured in his Class of 2015 project, and is affiliated with professional organizations like the College Art Association and Society for Photographic Education.
