Nina Levitt is an Associate Professor in the Visual Art & Art History Department at York University's School of the Arts, Media, Performance & Design. She holds a BAA from Ryerson and an MFA from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her practice focuses on recovering marginalized women's histories through photography, installation, and video, particularly WWII female spies and queer cultural representation.

Levitt has exhibited globally, including Nuit Blanche (2006) and the Vancouver Art Gallery (2002). She previously taught at Ryerson University and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago before joining York in 2004. Current work includes a novel on WWII British women and research on photographer Alice Austen.
