Robert Doktor is a Professor of Management at the Shidler College of Business, University of Hawaii. He holds a PhD from Stanford University (1970) and dual BS/BA degrees in Electrical Engineering and Psychology from Lafayette College (1966). His research focuses on international management, entrepreneurship, cross-cultural leadership, and the intersection of technology with organizational behavior. He has served as editor for special issues in Management Science, Academy of Management Review, and International Journal of Entrepreneurship and Small Business.
Recent work explores leadership in diverse cultural contexts, including Pacific Island nations, and the role of touch and neuroscience in leadership practices. He co-authored influential books on organizational behavior and management advancement, including Managerial Advancement: An International Comparison (1980) and Human and Organizational Dynamics in e-Health (2005/2020). His 2016 paper at HICSS won a Best Conference Paper Award.
Key research themes include CEO compensation's societal impact, telemedicine implementation challenges, and entrepreneurial opportunity discovery. He has advised on global economic growth strategies and contributed to frameworks linking cultural factors to management practices.
