Ramin Asgary, MD, MPH, is a full-time Professor of Global Health and International Affairs at the Milken Institute School of Public Health, George Washington University. He also holds academic appointments at GWU School of Nursing and Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. As Director of the Humanitarian Health and Disaster Response Program, his work bridges academic teaching and fieldwork in humanitarian crises.
His career spans three decades of operational leadership with Doctors Without Borders (MSF) and international agencies, addressing complex emergencies in over two dozen regions. Professional roles include Board Directorships at MSF-USA (2012-2018) and current Vice-Chair of the Institutional Review Board at International Rescue Committee. He has pioneered initiatives like the Accountability to Beneficiaries committee and Ethics oversight for MSF's $380M grant portfolio.
Education includes clinical training as a physician and advanced degrees from Columbia University, NYU, Mount Sinai, and Johns Hopkins. His research focuses on humanitarian ethics, disaster response, global health curricula, reproductive health in crises, and cancer care for displaced populations.
