Ramin Asgary, MD, MPH, MSc, is a Clinical Professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS) with dual appointments in Medicine and Environmental Medicine. He also holds an outside employment role at George Washington University (GWU) as Director of the Humanitarian Health and Disaster Response program. His research focuses on cancer control, health disparities solutions, global health, and humanitarian assistance, particularly in low-resource settings such as refugee populations and underserved communities.
Professor Asgary’s clinical expertise includes internal medicine, preventive medicine, and cancer control. He has conducted clinical trials using mobile health strategies for cancer screening and chronic disease management both domestically and internationally. His work spans ethics in humanitarian operations, governance, task-shifting in cervical and breast cancer screening, healthcare for refugees, women’s health, and addressing hospital-acquired infections and drug resistance.

His educational background includes an MD from Tehran University of Medical Sciences, MPH degrees from Columbia University and ISMMS, a Certificate in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene from John Hopkins University, a Fellowship in Health Services Research at NYU School of Medicine, and an MSc in Clinical and Translational Research from NYU SoM. He has extensive experience with humanitarian organizations like Doctors Without Borders and leadership roles in global health initiatives.
