Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinaiمعرفی
Samira Asgari, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in Genetics and Genomic Sciences at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She combines statistical, functional, and population genomics to study how human genetic diversity influences immune system variability and infectious disease outcomes.
- Education:
- BSc, University of Tehran
- MSc, University of Tehran
- PhD, École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL)
- Postdoctoral Research, Harvard Medical School
Her research focuses on the heritable basis of infectious disease susceptibility, addressing critical gaps in understanding variant function, ancestry-driven disparities, and underrepresentation of non-European populations in genomics studies. Recent work includes high-dimensional phenotyping and host-pathogen co-analysis.
Notable scientific awards include the 2020 Nature Research Award, Swiss National Science Foundation grants (2016-2018), and recognition as an ASHG Epstein Award finalist.
