Prof. Keith M Sigel is a Professor in the Department of Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, with additional appointments in General Internal Medicine, Infectious Diseases, and Otolaryngology. His research focuses on HIV/AIDS-related cancers, cancer epidemiology, and preventive medicine, particularly anal and lung cancer screening in HIV patients. He has clinical affiliations at Mount Sinai Morningside, The Mount Sinai Hospital, and Mount Sinai West.
Education: MD from University of North Carolina School of Medicine, followed by Internal Medicine residency and Infectious Diseases fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital. Board-certified in Internal Medicine.
Research interests include HIV infection and cancer risk, antibiotic therapy in cancer patients, and disparities in healthcare for LGBTQ+ populations. Awards include the 2009 Housestaff Research Day Oral Presentation Award and 2007 Excellence in Quality Healthcare Award from Mount Sinai.
His recent work emphasizes translational research bridging clinical care and public health, including cost-effectiveness analyses of screening strategies and implementation of pharmacist-delivered tobacco cessation programs.
