Dr. Rakesh Bissoondeeal is a Senior Lecturer in Economics at Aston Business School, part of Aston University's College of Business and Social Sciences. He joined the institution in 2005 after completing his PhD in Financial Economics at Nottingham Trent University. His roles include teaching Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and Econometrics at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, alongside administrative responsibilities such as Departmental Director of Learning and Teaching and Deputy Head of Department.
His research focuses on monetary economics, with emphasis on Divisia monetary aggregates, money demand stability, inflation forecasting, and linkages between housing markets and financial markets. Recent work explores Brexit and pandemic impacts on financial systems, as well as regional disparities in UK housing and stock markets. His publications appear in journals like Journal of International Money and Finance and European Journal of Finance.
Dr. Bissoondeeal holds a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Mauritius (2000) and a PhD in Financial Economics from Nottingham Trent University (2005). He has supervised six student theses and contributed to Knowledge Transfer Partnership projects, such as his consultancy with Kimal Ltd (2010-2012).
