Peter Lentini is an Associate Professor in Politics at Monash University, affiliated with the School of Political and Social Inquiry. He holds roles as Deputy Head of the School, Co-Convenor of the Global Terrorism Research Unit, and Convenor of the Master of Counter-Terrorism Studies program. His expertise spans terrorism studies, counter-terrorism, political science, and diaspora research. Lentini earned a BA in Political Science and Russian from the University of Rhode Island (1988) and a PhD in Russian and East European Studies from Glasgow University (1997). He has held senior administrative roles at Monash, including Head of School and Associate Dean (Research). His research focuses on radicalization, far-right movements, and the intersection of multiculturalism and security, with projects funded by institutions like the European Commission and the Victorian government. He has published extensively on terrorism, extremism, and policy responses, contributing to global academic discourse on these issues.

Research Interests: Lentini’s work explores radicalization pathways, terrorism prevention, and the sociopolitical dynamics of far-right movements. His projects include analyzing pre-incident indicators of terrorism and countering incivility in democracies. He emphasizes bridging academic research with practical policy solutions.
Grants & Projects: Lentini has led 15+ research projects, including the EU-funded EUOSSIC consortium and studies on incivility in liberal democracies. He investigates topics like pre-incident terror indicators and diaspora-driven extremism. His work often involves international collaborations, reflecting his transnational research focus.
