Peter C. Wendell is a Lecturer in Strategic Management at the Stanford Graduate School of Business (GSB), where he has held a faculty appointment since 1991. He co-teaches the popular course Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital alongside prominent figures like Eric Schmidt and Scott Kupor. Wendell is also a managing director and founder of Sierra Ventures, a Silicon Valley venture capital firm with over $2 billion in investments, and a senior advisor at Westbridge Capital. He actively serves on multiple corporate boards, including Merck & Co. and Living Spaces Furniture (founded by his former students).
Education: Wendell holds an MBA from Harvard Business School (1976, with distinction) and a B.A. in Arts from Princeton University (1972, magna cum laude). He previously worked at IBM and McKinsey & Company.
Research & Expertise: His expertise spans venture capital strategies, corporate governance, and technology entrepreneurship. He has advised over 2,000 Stanford MBA students and contributed to landmark investments in companies like Intuit, Teradata, and Intuitive Surgical.
