Jay Watkins serves as a Lecturer in Management, combining academic instruction with extensive industry experience in healthcare innovation and venture capital. He is a Managing Director at De Novo Ventures, a venture capital firm focused on healthcare technologies. Previously, he held executive roles including CEO of Origin Medsystems (acquired by Eli Lilly), president of divisions at Guidant, and co-founder of Gynecare (acquired by Johnson & Johnson). He has been instrumental in founding and scaling multiple medtech startups, including leadership roles in over 14 venture investments such as Impella and Intuitive Surgical.
