Peter Ziebelman is a Lecturer in Management at the Stanford Graduate School of Business (GSB), affiliated with the Center for Entrepreneurial Studies. A seasoned venture capitalist with over 30 years of experience, he cofounded Palo Alto Venture Partners in 1996 and previously led the U.S. operations of Thompson Clive Partners. He has served on boards of early-stage companies that later went public, such as AvantGo and Vicinity. His academic background includes a BS in Combined Sciences (Yale, 1978) and an MSx from Stanford GSB (1987, Sloan Fellow).
His teaching focuses on entrepreneurship and venture capital, including the course Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital: Partnership for Growth. He emphasizes real-world VC negotiations, startup strategies, and the evolving VC landscape. Peter also advises Fortune 500 companies on internal entrepreneurship and venture capital partnerships.
Key research interests include venture capital dynamics, global tech ecosystems, and entrepreneurial leadership. His case studies analyze topics like cross-border investing, startup equity splits, and corporate venture capital. Notable recognition includes being named to AlwaysOn’s Venture Capital 100 (2012).
Peter’s professional affiliations include the Stanford GSB MSx Advisory Board, the Ronald McDonald House board, and leadership roles in the Pacific Skyline Council and the Yale Club of Silicon Valley.
