Paul De Cinque

Paul De Cinque is a Senior Lecturer and Deputy Head (Engagement) at the Conservatorium of Music, University of Western Australia. He serves as Chair of Brass and Music Education, teaching trumpet, brass studies, and music education. He conducts the Conservatorium Wind Orchestra, Brass Ensemble, and Trumpet Choir. Previously, he taught at Memorial University of Newfoundland. His research focuses on music conducting, composition, and community music engagement.

• Education: Doctor of Musical Arts (University of South Carolina), Master of Music (Indiana University), multiple degrees from UWA and Curtin University.
• Research Interests: Orchestral practices, brass performance, music education pedagogy, and historical repertoire adaptation.

His work includes arranging Skipworth’s orchestral pieces for wind ensemble and performing premieres like Ewazen’s Sonata. He is actively involved in community music projects, leading workshops for schools and orchestras across Perth.

• Awards: Nominated for the UWA Award for Teaching Excellence (2020).
• Activities: Organized over 30 engagement events, including workshops with John Curtin College of the Arts and Perth Modern School.

Labs/Teams: Leads the Trumpet Choir and collaborates with the UWA Day of Brass initiatives to promote brass music education.
