Ole Trond Berg is a Professor of Health Management and Political Science at the University of Oslo’s Department of Health Management and Health Economics. He has held this position since 1987, following a Mag.art. (1968) and PhD (1983) in Political Science from UiO. He led the establishment of the Center for Health Administration (1986-1995 and 1999-2002) and served as a Visiting Associate Professor at the University of Minnesota (1980-1981) and a Fulbright Scholar at Yale University (1973-1974).
His research focuses on European healthcare systems, comparative health administration, clinical management, and the historical roles of physicians in leadership. He has advised healthcare institutions and authored numerous publications on healthcare governance, policy, and institutional history. Notable awards include the Knight 1st Class of the Royal Norwegian Order of St. Olav (2002). He contributes to editorial boards of journals like the Journal of Management and Marketing in Healthcare and has held roles in national science advisory committees.
Berg teaches in health administration programs, including the Executive Master’s and international Master’s in Health Economics, Policy, and Management. His work integrates historical analysis, political science, and healthcare management to address contemporary challenges in health systems worldwide.
