معرفی
Nils Brose is a Professor (Hon.) of Biochemistry at the Biology Faculty of Georg August University Göttingen, Germany, and Director of the Department of Molecular Neurobiology at the Max Planck Institute of Experimental Medicine. He holds an Adjunct Professorship in Biochemistry at the Medical Faculty of the same university. His research focuses on synaptic transmission mechanisms, molecular neurobiology, and synapse dysfunction linked to neurological disorders.
Education: He earned a Ph.D. in Biology from Ludwig Maximilians University Munich and the Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry (1990), followed by a Habilitation in Medical Sciences from Georg August University Göttingen (1998).
Research Interests: Brose’s work spans mechanisms of synaptic vesicle exocytosis, synaptogenesis, and the molecular basis of synaptopathies. His lab investigates how proteins like neuroligins, Munc13, and synaptotagmin regulate neurotransmitter release and synapse maturation. He has made seminal contributions to understanding calcium signaling in synaptic transmission.
Awards: He received the ERC Advanced Grant (2015), membership in the Leopoldina Academy (2014), and the Gerhard Hess Prize (1997). He is an EMBO Member and former Heisenberg Fellow.
Editorial Roles: He serves on editorial boards of Current Opinion in Neurobiology, Journal of Biochemistry, and others. He has organized major conferences like the Gordon Research Conference on Neuronal Cell Biology.
Lab & Teams: As Director of the Max Planck Department of Molecular Neurobiology, he leads a team studying synaptic function at the molecular and cellular levels, with a focus on neurobiology and neurodegenerative disease mechanisms.
