Professor Nick Evans is a Professor of Rural Geography and Head of the Geography and Environment department at the University of Worcester. He specializes in agricultural geography, rural development, and the socio-cultural dimensions of farming. His research explores the intersection of agricultural policy, environmental impacts, and cultural identity, particularly in Western agricultural models.
Education: PhD in Agricultural Geography (Coventry University); BSc (Hons) Geography (Coventry University).
Research focuses on farm livestock, landscape dynamics, climate change adaptation in agriculture, and rural healthcare accessibility. He has led the former Centre for Rural Research and now contributes to the Sustainable Environments Research Group (SERG). Teaching emphasizes fieldwork-based learning in rural geography, including residential programs in the Lake District, Scottish Highlands, and Provence.
He supervises PhD students with a supportive approach, conducts grant proposal evaluations, and trains staff on PhD examination processes. His work bridges academic research with practical consultancy for local authorities, conservation organizations, and government departments.
