Dr Adrian Evans is an Associate Professor at Coventry University's Centre for Agroecology, Water and Resilience. His research focuses on sustainable food systems, farm animal welfare, and citizen engagement in agricultural practices. He has led EU projects like Dialrel (religious slaughter) and Welfare Quality, and currently oversees initiatives like FOOdIVERSE (food system diversification) and Organic-PLUS (organic agriculture sustainability).
Key research areas include ethical consumption practices, community-based environmental projects, and historical geographies of material culture. Evans' work bridges science, policy, and public dialogue, addressing topics like halal food consumption, social deprivation and diet, and peat-free horticulture.
His projects emphasize cross-disciplinary collaboration, with recent outputs analyzing tree planting governance in Ethiopia and hidden health inequalities linked to cooking practices. Evans has authored over 25 peer-reviewed articles and contributed to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to sustainable agriculture and responsible consumption.
Grants include leadership roles in £3M+ research programs funded by the EU and UK Natural Environment Research Council. He advises on ethical farming practices and has collaborated with institutions across Europe, Middle East, and Africa.
