Nathaniel J. Moorman

Nathaniel J. Moorman is an Associate Professor in the Department of Microbiology & Immunology at the University of North Carolina (UNC) School of Medicine. He is a member of the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, where his research focuses on herpesviruses and their interactions with cellular machinery. His work specifically investigates how human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) manipulates cellular translation to enhance viral replication and suppress antiviral defenses.

His research interests lie at the intersection of virology, immunology, and molecular biology. By studying HCMV's mechanisms, Dr. Moorman aims to uncover new insights into viral pathogenesis and host-cell interactions. His contributions are aligned with broader efforts in RNA biology through UNC Lineberger's initiatives.
