Monica Centanni

Monica Centanni is a Full Professor of Greek Language and Literature at Università Iuav di Venezia and Università di Catania, with additional roles at Venice International University. She specializes in Classical Tradition, Ancient Theatre, and Aby Warburg studies. Since 2000, she has directed the journal La Rivista di Engramma, exploring the Classical Tradition in Western memory. Her research bridges ancient and Renaissance studies, focusing on iconology and cultural memory.

Her academic positions include leadership in PhD programs at Ca’ Foscari and Iuav universities, and she directs the research center classicA – Iuav. Notable awards include membership in the Accademia Olimpica (2019) and the Premio Monselice (2005) for her translation of Aeschylus’ tragedies. Her work emphasizes interdisciplinary methods, curating conferences and exhibitions on Warburg’s legacy and Renaissance art.
