Dr. Adriano Aymonino is a Professor and Programme Director for the MA Art Market, Provenance and the History of Collecting at the University of Buckingham. He specializes in the reception of classical tradition in the early modern period, focusing on visual culture during the Enlightenment and Grand Tour, with particular emphasis on Britain and Mediterranean-North Europe exchanges.
- Education: BA (Sapienza Università di Roma), MA (Warburg Institute), PhD (IUAV and Università di Venezia Ca’ Foscari).
- Research Interests: Art theory and practice, patronage and collecting, architectural history, classical body and proportion theories.
- Publications: Author of Enlightened Eclecticism (Yale UP, 2021), co-editor of La vita delle mostre and West Wycombe House, and contributor to journals like Burlington Magazine and Getty Research Journal.
- Exhibitions: Curator of Paper Palaces (2013), Drawn from the Antique (2015), and Roma-Londra (2018-19).
- Current Projects: Editor of Francis Haskell’s Taste and the Antique (2022), co-author of Paper Marbles (MIT Press, 2022), and developer of the Adam Grand Tour Online digital platform (2023).
- Leadership: Associate Editor of the Journal of the History of Collections, Member of the Advisory Board of Museo del Bargello (Florence), and Convenor of the University of Buckingham’s Research Seminars in the History of Art.
