Associate Professor Mohammad Alamgir Hossain is a faculty member in the School of Accounting, Information Systems, and Supply Chain (SAISSC) at RMIT University, Australia. He serves as seminar coordinator for the Department of Information Systems and Business Analytics and leads the Digital Technologies theme of Business & Human Rights (BHRIGHT) Centre. Additionally, he holds a Visiting Fellow position at the University of Wollongong and maintains active research collaborations.
Dr Hossain earned his PhD in Information Systems from Curtin University, Australia, with the Chancellor's commendation. His academic journey includes a Vice Chancellor Postdoc Research Fellowship at RMIT University prior to his current associate professorship, demonstrating his strong research trajectory.
His research focuses on the social, organizational, and individual aspects of digital technology acceptance and use across multiple domains. Key areas include digital technology adoption and diffusion, cybersecurity issues like cyberbullying and trolling, digital inclusion for socially-excluded groups such as LGBTIQ people, social media behavior including fake news and content sharing, and digital transformation in public and private sectors. His work bridges theoretical frameworks with practical applications in diverse contexts from public administration to business operations.
Hossain's publication record demonstrates consistent contributions to top-tier journals with over 60 scholarly articles, including three A* and 25 A ranked journal articles (ABDC ranking). His research employs sophisticated methodologies like PLS-SEM and fsQCA, exploring digital technology impacts across multiple domains including social media behavior, e-government, supply chain management, and public service systems, with particular attention to configurational approaches that reveal complex causal relationships.

As a supervisor, Dr Hossain has successfully guided four PhD students to completion and is open to supervising Masters Research or PhD students. His research has attracted grants exceeding $100,000, supporting investigations into digital resource utilization in higher education, e-government adoption in Indonesia and Saudi Arabia, workplace mental wellbeing in the Australian mining industry, and social media use by entrepreneurs. His teaching portfolio includes Business Systems Analysis & Design, Technology Diffusion/Management, IT Project Management, Computer/Management Information Systems, and Digital Business Design & Innovation.
Dr Hossain leads the Digital Technologies theme within RMIT's Business & Human Rights (BHRIGHT) Centre, focusing on how digital innovations can advance human rights. He is actively involved with professional organizations including the Association for Information Systems, Australian and New Zealand Academy of Management, Australian Computer Society, and Engineers Australia, contributing to the broader academic and professional community in information systems and related fields.
