Michael Tsiros is Professor and Centennial Endowed Chair at the Miami Herbert Business School, University of Miami, where he also serves as Director of the Canes Behavioral Lab. He previously held the position of Patrick J. Cesarano Professor of Marketing (2014-2023) and has been a faculty member at the University of Miami since 1999, progressing from Assistant Professor to his current rank of Professor. He has served as Chair of the Marketing Department (2009-2013 and 2016-2022) and Vice Dean of Research and Faculty Affairs (2016-2017).
Dr. Tsiros earned his Ph.D. in Marketing from Temple University, an MBA from St. John's University, and a BS in Computer Science (with honors) from St. John's University. His academic career includes visiting appointments at the London Business School (Spring 2006) and Dartmouth College (Fall 2005), as well as a previous faculty position at Washington University in St. Louis (1997-1999).
His research focuses on customer satisfaction and regret in decision-making, numeracy and behavioral pricing, and the symbolic association of brand assets. Drawing from behavioral decision theory, social psychology, and cognitive psychology, his work examines how consumers process numerical information, form emotional connections with brands, and make purchasing decisions. His research has revealed critical insights about convexity neglect in consumer decision making, how consumers respond to expiration date-based pricing, and how minimum donation thresholds affect charitable giving behavior.
Dr. Tsiros has received numerous honors including the William R. Davidson Award for Best Paper in the Journal of Retailing (2010), the Journal of Retailing Best Reviewer Award (2016), and selection for the Marketing Science Institute Young Scholars Program (2005). He has also received multiple University of Miami Provost Research Awards (2008-2017).

As an educator, Dr. Tsiros has mentored numerous students, including Tatiana Fajardo whose dissertation was a Mary Kay Dissertation Award Finalist. He has served on editorial boards for top journals including Journal of Marketing Research (where he currently serves as Associate Editor), Journal of Retailing, and Journal of Service Research. His teaching portfolio includes Marketing Research, Pricing, Consumer Behavior, and Services Marketing across undergraduate, graduate, and executive levels.
Dr. Tsiros directs the Canes Behavioral Lab at the University of Miami, which serves as a research facility for conducting experiments in consumer behavior and decision making. The lab supports faculty and student research in marketing and related disciplines, providing a controlled environment for testing theories about consumer psychology and behavior.
