Haipeng Allan Chen is a Professor of Marketing and the Gary C. Fethke Chair in Leadership at the Tippie College of Business, University of Iowa. He has held academic positions at the University of Miami, Texas A&M University, and the University of Kentucky, where he served as Professor and Gatton Endowed Chair in Marketing prior to joining Iowa in 2024.

Dr. Chen’s research bridges Behavioral Decision Theory and Pricing, focusing on consumer and managerial decision-making. His work explores cognitive biases (e.g., sunk cost fallacy), preference perception, and strategic pricing, with interdisciplinary contributions to Behavioral Economics and Consumer Psychology.
His recent publications analyze over-diversification effects, hierarchical labeling in pricing plans, and cumulative impact neglect in sequential decisions. These studies span journals like Journal of Consumer Research, Management Science, and Economica, reflecting his cross-disciplinary approach.
