Michael Perrone is an American painter and Assistant Professor at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Qatar, specializing in Painting and Printmaking. He holds an MFA from the University of Pennsylvania (2004), an MAT in Art Education from Tufts University/School of the Museum of Fine Arts (Boston), and a BA in Russian Studies/Political Science from Muhlenberg College (1989).

Research & Practice: Perrone's work focuses on contemporary painting and interdisciplinary art practices. His exhibitions include solo shows at Michael Steinberg Fine Art (New York) and group exhibitions globally, such as 'Qatari Mirror' at Hamad Bin Khalifa University Art Gallery (2014) and 'Year_07 Art Fair' in London (2007). His art explores themes of cultural identity and spatial dynamics, often blending traditional techniques with modern narratives.

Teaching & Leadership: Since 2013, Perrone has led painting courses at VCU Qatar. He previously taught at the University of Iowa (2004–2010) and served as Chairperson of the Faculty Advisory Committee (2013–2015). With his wife, artist Mariah Dekkenga, he co-founded the v_e_s_t_i_b_u_l_e artist residency and gallery in Vermont (USA).
Labs & Collaborations: Active in global art networks, Perrone has participated in residencies at T.A.K.T. Kunstprojektraum (Berlin, 2014) and The Vermont Studio Center (2001–2002). His work bridges academic and creative communities through exhibitions, grants, and educational mentorship.
