Sammy Chong is an Assistant Professor of the Practice in Studio Art at Boston College, specializing in interdisciplinary art that explores identity, transcendental meaning, and societal paradigms. He holds an MFA from Tufts University/School of the Museum of Fine Arts (2012) and teaches courses such as The Art of Portraiture and Bare Naked Approaches. His work bridges philosophy, theology, and visual arts, addressing themes like marginalization and cultural narratives through drawing and painting.
Chong’s research focuses on reinterpreting mythological figures—such as the Minotaur series—to critique modern societal structures. He has exhibited widely, including solo shows at Atlantic Gallery (NY) and Pelham Arts Center (NY), and group exhibitions at institutions like the Shelburne Museum (VT) and the Cape Cod Museum of Art (MA). His awards include the 2017 Alexander Rutsch Award and the 2018 'Who.Are.You?' Prize.
