Jamey Hart is an Assistant Professor of Studio Art at Drake University's College of Arts & Sciences, Department of Art & Design. His work focuses on the intersection of language and visual discourse in painting.
Education:
- BFA in Painting, Cleveland Institute of Art
- MFA in Painting with a concentration in Contemporary Art History, University of Houston
Research Interests: Hart's research explores how objects are perceived as facts within discourse. His practice roots painting in language, aiming to create wordless objects. This involves examining the relationship between visual art and conceptual frameworks.
Exhibitions and Publications: His solo exhibitions include "Mere" at Gray Contemporary (Houston, TX), "And" at Automat Gallery (Philadelphia, PA), and "Slow Pace Time" at Front Gallery (Houston, TX). Group exhibitions span venues like Blaffer Art Museum (Houston, TX) and Sarah Brook Gallery (Los Angeles, CA). His work has been featured in New American Paintings, Reciprocal Magazine, and others.
