Michael Fitzgibbon is a Sessional Lecturer at the University of Toronto's Centre for Industrial Relations and Human Resources (CIRHR), where he has taught since 1997. He specializes in employment law, labour law, and human rights law, instructing courses such as the Law of Labour Relations in the MIRHR program. He maintains an academic focus on topics like the Labour Relations Act and Employment Standards Act.

Research and Professional Background: Fitzgibbon practiced labour, employment, and human rights law for nearly 30 years, including 20 years as an equity partner at a major Canadian law firm. He later co-founded a specialized law boutique and worked as a sole practitioner. Since 2021, he has dedicated himself fully to academia. He has co-authored two books on key Canadian labour legislation, contributed chapters to additional publications, and presented at over 100 conferences, including events hosted by the Law Society of Ontario, Barreau du Québec, and the Human Resources Professional Association of Ontario.
His scholarly work emphasizes legal frameworks governing workplace relations, with a focus on practical applications of statutory regulations in employment contexts.
